National Civil War Centre

Café Nineteen20

Update: 19 May 2021

Cafe Nineteen20 has now reopened offering a selection of snacks, cakes and drinks including a brand new range of gluten free bakes.

Open Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm.

You can find our café by turning left when facing reception and heading up the few steps (there is also step-free access via a lift). You’ll find both accessible toilets and baby changing facilities here too and there is plenty of space for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

Open to both National Civil War Centre visitors and the public, Café Nineteen20 offers a warm welcome from friendly staff and a delicious selection of light lunches, sumptuous cakes and quality coffee. Relax with a bite to eat in this spacious setting at the heart of the Palace Theatre, whose opening year, 1920, gives the café its name. In warmer weather, our outside courtyard allows you to enjoy a breath of fresh air alongside your refreshments and there is free WiFi throughout. With a wealth of amazing food and drink providers locally, many of our menu items and ingredients are sourced from nearby, supporting our fantastic independents and giving you a real taste of the area during your visit.

As the café is located within the Palace Theatre there may be occasions where daytime performances and events cause particularly busy times or, rarely, closures. Any upcoming instances of this will be listed here.
