An outright and immediate possession order has been secured by Newark and Sherwood District Council’s Housing Team for a property on Carswell Close in Newark following serious anti-social and intimidating behaviour by the 69 year old former tenant who is currently on remand, awaiting sentencing for his crimes.

Newark and Sherwood District Council served an Abatement Notice* on The Flying Circus, Newark on Friday 15 September 2023.  Noise nuisance is covered by the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (Section 79). The law requires that a District Council investigates any complaint it receives in relation to an environmental issue such as noise; and, where a Statutory Nuisance** is established, a District Council legally must then serve an Abatement Notice.

Hello residents,

What an incredible couple of weeks we’ve had; seeing the Tour of Britain coming through our district and the Newark and Sherwood Community Awards which made me feel very proud.

Our residents and communities are wonderful people and seeing the award winners last Friday evening really brought that home to me. And again, seeing how our towns and villages turned out to support Stage 4 of the Tour of Britain was as equally heart-warming.

On 28 July Newark Town centre will once again resonate with the sounds of wheels on tarmac as the elite of British cycling slug it out to determine who will be crowned champion.

Following on from the hugely popular event last year, once again the finale of the British Cycling National Circuit Series will use the historic Royal Market as the backdrop for the final races of the season.
