Open Doors

Heritage and Culture in Newark and Sherwood were awarded funding for a three-year programme, Open Doors; which is a National Portfolio Organisation as of April 2023. At Open Doors, we aim to provide creative opportunities for local people, become a focal point for culture across the district and build strong relationships with our community by understanding their needs and interests.

We offer free creative workshops across our district, funded learning session for schools and our Artist in Residence studio, plus more great events!

FREE FAMILY ARTS FESTIVAL

Children playing and running in a field

This Easter Weekend, join the Open Doors team as they travel across the district to Ollerton, Newark and Rainworth with their first Family Arts Festival.

Across multiple venues in each location, you’ll be able to turn your hand to everything from learning circus skills to handling historical objects, having a go at musical instruments to contributing your artistic skills to a collaborative art piece and so much more. Journey into the past through virtual reality headsets or bring your little ones to Time Travel Tots or our Open Doors first birthday parties.

Not only are there activities for all ages but every single one of them is totally FREE for all participants. Find out more here.
