Besieged but Never Beaten is a guided walking tour exploring Newark’s vital role during the English Civil Wars. Focusing on the dramatic events of the 17th century, the tour reveals how the town’s inhabitants endured repeated sieges, constant threat and extraordinary hardship.
Led by a knowledgeable guide, the walk tells the story of a town under pressure — dodging cannonball fire, facing outbreaks of plague, and surviving daily life in a fortified stronghold.
