Tucked away within the Old Tudor Dorm, dWell Gallery offers a space to pause, reflect and reconnect. Created as a place for slow looking, the gallery invites visitors to step away from the pace of everyday life and spend time with art in a different way.
Rather than rushing from one artwork to the next, dWell encourages mindfulness and curiosity. Take a moment to slow down, notice the details, and discover what emerges when you allow yourself time to truly look. Are you drawn to colour, texture, memory or emotion?
The gallery is part of a wider commitment to wellbeing, creativity and gentle attention. Here, viewing art becomes more than simply seeing; it becomes a chance to breathe, reflect and be present in the moment.
The dWell Gallery is currently hosting The Dandelion Project, an exhibition shaped by creativity, nature and calm. The project explores how gentle attention, creativity and art-making can support wellbeing and help us reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.
Developed in collaboration with the Dandelion Group, the exhibition draws inspiration from mindful moments found in everyday life. Visitors may already be familiar with the group's wellbeing initiative, which includes mindful benches and "Seeds of Calm" installed across the district, encouraging people to pause and reflect. This exhibition continues that invitation within the peaceful setting of dWell Gallery.
The display features a selection of artworks chosen by members of the Dandelion Group from the National Civil War Centre's collections. Their personal reflections sit alongside the artworks, revealing how different images can spark memories, encourage contemplation and evoke feelings of calm. Highlights include landscapes, nature-inspired scenes and works selected for the way they reward careful observation, reminding us that sometimes the more we look, the more we discover.
Take a breath. Take your time. Let the quiet settle.
